Please God, let me live for this...

Fanfiction

My favourite Sherlock fanfiction at the moment is the Cate and Mycroft series. It's brilliantly written, and has great plots. Do go and read the series - five stories are complete, and the sixth one is on. It's Mycroft-centric.

News and other things...

Have you seen this yet? Boy, D. Boland is supremely talented or what?

Among other news, Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing in "The Imitation Game" as Alan Turing with Keira Knightley. Interesting.

There's a fantastic comparison of Khan Prime and our new Khan by these good people. Did you agree with the ratings?

Ooh, Khan.

Adore the character, the actor - everything.

I'm looking for a snapshot of the "evil" look just after the declaration "My name is Khan." That's a precious moment.

Been debating the new Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy versus the old one with a friend. Oh, well, I've always liked Peter, and I think Cumberbatch is a better Peter...but Alec Guinness probably wins over Gary Oldman.

Ciao.

Benedict Cumberbatch

Icon. Inerrant. Inspiration.

Dear God.

Just saw A Study in Pink (for the nth time). My grandmother hadn't seen it before, so, of course, it had to be put up on TV for her!

She loved it, of course. She's re-reading A Study in Scarlet these days, so she enjoyed it properly. Now she can't have enough, and she's watching The Blind Banker.

She says Benedict Cumberbatch reminds her of her favourite grandchild, my dearest cousin. Ah, well. I've always thought my cousin looked a bit like Orlando Bloom rather than Benedict Cumberbatch; but being a mathematician plus a pianist - he's certainly as intellectual as Sherlock...albeit more theoretical. The family's full of academic eccentrics.

Anyway, that wasn't the point. Found a nice article and a cool set of problems. Also, a nice collection of videos where everyone is gushing about Benedict Cumberbatch.

Need more Sherlock. Just Sherlock Season 3. Nothing else.

There's some talk of Sir Benedict being the twelfth Doctor. I don't think so, not really. In any case, I'd rather he finish Sherlock first. I adore Doctor Who, but Sherlock's just something else.

The Mysterious Appeal of Sherlock Holmes

It's true, isn't it?

You read one story, one adventure, and you're hooked on to it for life.

What makes him so attractive?

Jerusalem

His voice.

They have said, "Cumberbatch seems to be unique among rising stars in that he’s as popular for his voice as for his face and onscreen charm. I’d be hard-pressed to think of an actor under 40 whose voice is so immediately recognizable, and who uses it to such memorable effect."

Too true.

All places promoting tourism ought to get him to record something for them.

One hell of a talented man, our Sir Benedict.

Which reminds me, isn't it time they put him up at Madame Tussaud's? I mean, they've got Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, for heaven's sake...and for a nation obsessed with Sherlock Holmes, it's a crying shame Cumberbatch's Sherlock isn't there yet. Or even him in general - I mean, he's practically the best thing Britain has at the moment!

Here's an interesting link with a picture.

Art and Dedication

Benedict Cumberbatch has some super-talented fans.

A painting of his "Khan" by the very, very talented Yori Narpati:

A pencil-sketch of his "Sherlock" by the particle physicist (!!!) Suprabh Prakash:

A rendition of his "Hawking" by the lovely "Lulock":

One of his Christopher Tietjens by Planet715:

Marvellous dedication to a marvellous man.

Of course, there are many, many more...just hop over to tumblr or fanpop and you'd be amazed at the level of artistry.
